FAQ’s

Location – No Limits! Your ceremony can be held at a location of your choice. I am legally authorised to marry couples anywhere in Australia. Please note if you require me to travel further than 100km an extra cost will be incurred. This will be discussed and become part of our service agreement. The rate is calculated according to the ATO guidelines which is currently set at 85cents per kilometre for FY 23/24.

Terms and conditions – You will be provided with terms and conditions. These documents will contain information like deposit required, cancellation policy ect.

Service agreement – The service agreement is a signed document which is an agreement between you and I for the service I will be providing to you. This document covers your privacy rights and if you are ok with a photo of your ceremony being displayed on my website or Facebook page.

Price – The price of a ceremony varies depending on the type of ceremony and length of time as well as travel distance. Please see the ceremony style for the current price. The cost includes all legal documentation and lodging of documents to Births, Deaths and Marriages, up to 3 appointments with me, writing of the ceremony, a rehearsal, solemnizing the marriage on your wedding day, travel time and unlimited phone calls and emails as required in the lead up to the day. You will also receive a decorative certificate on your wedding day.

How soon can I get married – Legally you must provide me with at least one month notice. You can apply for a shortening of time under specific circumstances. I can provide you with this information.

I can’t find my birth certificate or original documents – You can contact the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages if you were born in Australia in the state you were born. Divorce certificates can be obtained from the Family Law courts. If you were born overseas please contact the relevant department to obtain documents or seek advice from your local Embassy.

Can children, pets or other family members be part of the ceremony – Absolutely! Your children can play a special part of your wedding or you may have a family member that would like to perform a reading during your ceremony. Pets make great ring bearers and it’s fun to have them around. Your ceremony is tailored to you.

Can we Elope – Yes you can. This is referred to as a ‘Legals only’ ceremony. All you need to elope is two witnesses over 18 and to complete the legal components with me. You can say your own vows in addition to the legals only components of the Ceremony.

Marriage Certificates

On your Wedding day you will sign 3 Marriage Certificates. One is the decorative certificate that you keep. The second  is an official looking marriage certificate is kept by the Celebrant for 7 years(this is a legal compliance requirement) and the third is also an official looking certificate and that is what the Celebrant sends to Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) so your Marriage can be registered.

After BDM receive the Official Certificate from the Celebrant I will apply on your behalf, to receive your Registered Marriage Certificate. The Registered Marriage certificate is what you  use as evidence of your Marriage for things like a change of name.

When should I book – It is best to book as soon as you have decided on a date, time and venue.

What if I want a religious ceremony – I am more than happy to include a religious vow, reading, poem, song or ritual that you would like. This is your ceremony, your special day and the ceremony will be tailored to suit you.
